explore a world of dark whimsy
Welcome!
Hello! Gen here, the artist behind marrow & soot. At marrow & soot, you’ll find a collection of my ~dark and mystical~ art. My inspiration is rooted in a deep reverence for the natural world, and an appreciation for history and pagan traditions. The art is a celebration of the essential interconnectedness between ourselves and our environment, exploring transformations in perception by blending the physical and spiritual. …And sometimes, the art is to process some plain old feminist rage. Or a pet portrait. Something something containing multitudes. I specialize in traditional art using materials like graphite, charcoal, inks, and wax pencils.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your journey through this collection.

“I thought the earth remembered me,
― Mary Oliver
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.”
